Caves Used as Places of Initiation |
A long, hard initiation for the future Cathar priests, the ‘pure ones’.
These underground retreats, places of meeting with the ‘Almighty Creative Essence’, offered them a safe and peaceful dwelling.
They fortified some of them like real fortified castles: the ‘spoulgas’.
Gadal sees a link between the various caves, which had so far escaped the historians’ or amateurs’ attention. We will come back to it!
After a year probation on the Sacred Mountain, the young Cathar neophyte celebrated his initiation in the cave of Bethlehem, in Ornolac, and thus could access the state of living Soul, the state of ‘Pure One’ or ‘Perfect One’.
Then going through the ‘Mystical door’, he would come back to the world to devote himself to suffering mankind, in service to Christ.
Let us now go to the caves!
