Moses came down from the thundering clouds of Sinai, holding the Tablets of the Law.
Christ, ascending in all his Glory, leaves only His Word to the World. The Word is condensed into a primordial Gospel. This Hebrew proto-Gospel is divided into four Greek gospels which are fragmented into a multitude of evangelical legends, written in all the Oriental idioms.
Each nation has its own biography of Jesus; each group of followers modifies Christ’s image according to its own ideas:
|
For the Jews, he is Abraham’s son;
for the Greeks, he is the ‘Son of Man’ and His origins go back to Adam;
the Orientals suppress all human genealogy and only see in him the Word, the Son of God.
